Impress builds factory in Morocco

Impress announces today that it has laid the first foundations of a new factory in Casablanca, Morocco.

The new facility, which will be operational in the second quarter next year, will be focussed on the production of steel and aluminium seafood cans. After several years of high growth, Morocco has become the world’s largest market for sardines.

Impress has been a leading supplier to the Moroccan market for more than twenty years, delivering from its factories in France, Spain and Italy. The new facility in Morocco will allow Impress to consolidate its presence in this dynamic market and further develop its activity through local production of a complete range of sardine cans, and through the introduction of new products.

“We have chosen a green field approach for this investment in Morocco, says Dominique Kieffer, Managing Director of Impress’ Seafood Division, so that we can achieve good productivity rapidly, in a market which is already high volume. This is a strategic investment for Impress, and will allow us to extend our coverage of the major fishing zones in the world. Following our acquisition of Black’s Harbour in 2005, it will also consolidate our position as the world’s leading supplier of metal packaging for sardines”
