Emphasizing our position as the European leader in cans for Paints and Coatings, Impress' creativity and design has once again been rewarded, this time through the 3rd International Steel Packaging Effectiveness Award presented by the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging (APEAL).
The 3rd Edition of the Award, presented at the 5th International Steel Packaging Congress held recently during Interpack in Düsseldorf, was decided by an international Jury, comprising branded goods manufacturers, packaging designers and representatives from the international packaging press, which evaluated the entries with the support of web-based, multicultural consumer research in 15 countries throughout the world. Packaging solutions that have proven to be the most effective in the market, in terms of increased sales, market share, profitability, brand awareness and/or consumer attitude shifts were recognised.
Impress' Paint and Coating cans were winner and third in the General Line Category:
CUPRINOL TOTAL WOODCARE:
ICI Paints chose the Impress "lever lid" rectangle as their preferred packaging format for the new Cuprinol Total Woodcare range. The packs combine the traditional practicality of a rectangle cans with the added-value of a lever lid opening. The product is available in both 2.5 and 4 litre sizes, and is manufactured at Impress Seesen, Germany.
Appreciation by the Jury:
'It's a handy solution, allowing the consumer to carry, pour and paint directly from the can.'
JOTUN PAINT CAN:
The new 750ml shaped can produced by Impress Norwich, UK, is a natural progression following the success of the original 650ml shaped can used by paint manufactures all over Europe. The distinctive waist is a particularly attractive feature which makes it not only stand out on the shelf but is easier to hold and more comfortable in the hand - something of a design classic.
Appreciation by the Jury:
'Eye-catching and elegantly shaped, it commands attention on the shelves, shaped containers being so rare in the paint segment.'
As well as the self-evident functional and shelf appeal of the cans, steel packaging is sustainable with one of the highest packaging recycling rates in Europe at 66%, driven by ease of extraction from the waste stream with magnets or through recycling schemes.
Gerard Molenaar, President of the Jury, & President of the International Packaging Press Organisation (IPPO) commented: 'A unique Award. Not just design, not just innovation, but with a strong focus on effectiveness, which is what packaging is all about. The method of judging is unique…. extensive multi-continental, consumer research is combined with the views of a jury. As a result, winning a steel effectiveness award is something to be proud of. This award shows that the package has been recognised by both the consumer and professionals'.
