Impress has been awarded three Gold and two Silver awards at the ´Cans of the Year´ Awards 2009, reflecting leadership in innovation, in five of the eleven categories.
The 2009 winners of The Canmaker Magazine ´Cans of the Year´ Awards were announced at Dubai, at the end of October. Eleven categories named the best in aerosol cans; beverage two- and three-piece; bottles; decoration and print quality; ends, caps and closures; fancy cans; food two- and three-piece; general line cans; and prototypes.
Two Gold awards for Easip®; one for PowerClick®.
Easip® won Gold in two categories: ends, caps and closures, and food three-piece. Easip® is the world´s first peelable steel end which can be sterilised through continuous retorts without over pressure, and was launched by the French group Bonduelle. It is the second time that Impress has won an award for prototype containers (the first time being in 2007, for its microwaveable metal trays): PowerClick® is a design feature which when added to a two-piece can, provides consumers with easy transport and handling, reclosability in the home, and savings in secondary outer packaging by simply clicking several cans together.
Silver awards for embossed aerosol and 350ml shaped syrup can.
Impress won Silver in the aerosol category for its embossed aerosol “3 Wetter Taft”, produced in Wedel, Germany for Schwarzkopf & Henkel; similarly Impress’ new 350ml shaped syrup can “Karvan Cévitam Mini Specials”, produced for H.J. Heinz in The Netherlands, won Silver in the beverage three-piece category. Striking shape and easy handling follow the success of the 750ml syrup can launched in 2007, both shapes are produced in the Dutch factory of Deventer.
Francis Labbé, Impress´CEO, who attended the award ceremony, stated: “We are extremely pleased to receive these awards. They reflect our ability as a pro-active innovator, responding to market and consumer needs whilst respecting our customer requirements.”
