The Starpack Industry Awards 2007, now in their 48th year, was presented at a glittering awards ceremony on May 15, held at The National Motorcycle Museum.

Impress took the Silver Star with its shaped aerosol can for Ambi Puresse Air Freshener from Sara Lee. The new can takes relatively new tinplate shaping technology to its extremes, achieving expansion levels of 30%. This opens up a wide range of design possibilities. Shaping is achieved using pneumatic blow forming of a distortion printed 52x161 mm standard shaped can.The expansion is achieved by producing tinplate with a high percentage of elongation and a controlled anisotropic. A special over varnish also had to be developed to prevent cracking, while special distortion printing techniques also had to be achieved. A European roll-out is expected shortly.
