The Courtauld Commitment has been slammed by can packaging firm Impress. This follows the issuing of the Sustainable Development Commission's Green, Healthy and Fair report, claiming the Commitment was unambitious and lacked urgency.
Impress group risk and excellence manager Ken Wood said of the Commitment - between the Waste Resources Action Programme and major grocery firms - "[It] has been misinterpreted by retailers. They're setting weight targets on materials that don't recycle."
Impress vice president of corporate and industry affairs Gordon Shade said moving from glass to plastic "might seem a good idea, but [certain] plastics aren't recyclable."
